row särkelä-bassett (b. 1994) is a performance artist, professional costume designer, and textile artist born and raised in taos, new mexico. särkelä works with dance, costume, voice, and video to play with myths, violence, extraction, and pleasure. särkelä most recently performed dance theater work at TicTac Art Center (Brussels), is recognized as an Emerging New Artist by Harwood Art Center (Albuquerque), and has shown work at CURRENTS New Media (Santa Fe). särkelä is the recipient of the Andy Warhol Foundation grant for their short dance film split mica (upcoming), was recognized with a Rocky Mountain Emmy for their costume design for Visit Albuquerque, and received scholarships with Judith Sanchez Ruiz (Berlin) and Penland School of Craft (Asheville) for their dance and weaving. särkelä is currently training at PERA GAU School of Performance Art (Northern Cyprus) in the contemporary dance track.
