Katrin Bethge

Like ephemeral painting, Katrin Bethge’s overhead projections transform the
surfaces of their surrounding space. Light-refracting objects, liquids and
various everyday materials are moved directly on the working surface of the
projector to evoke equally cosmic and microscopic spaces of light. Her
projections accompanied projects in dance, theatre and music on international
stages and festivals, such as Elbphilharmonie, Staatsheater Stuttgart,
Philharmonie Luxemburg, Gare du Nord Basel, Konzerthaus Berlin,
Nationaltheater Mannheim, Ostrava Days for New Music and The Future Is
Tbilisi. Among her musical collaborators are Ensemble Modern, Ensemble
Resonanz, Wu Wei, The Shredz, Pulse Quartett and Baroque Lab Frankfurt.
Katrin Bethge received the Cultural Award of the City of Schleswig also works
and exhibits as a drawing artist, and teaches at the Hochschule für
Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg and fashion academy JAK.
