Milo Tamez

Mexican percussionist and composer Milo Tamez is a multifaceted creative artist working in classical contemporary percussion, avant jazz, free improvisation, and experimental music. Milo’s solo compositions and multidisciplinary ensemble works build upon his deep study of drumming history. His composition “Oxyoquet” serves as a definitive review of 20th century percussion. An incessant researcher, Milo has integrated his deep study of African drumming within his own percussive perspective.

Tamez’s collaborators include Christian Wolff, Robyn Schulkowsky, Andrew Cyrille, Rashied Ali, Ratzo Harris, Lê Quang Ninh, Ōtomo Yoshihide, Reggie Workman, Karl Berger, Warren Smith, Harvey Sorgen, Thollem McDonas, Liminar Ensamble, Carmina Escobar, Estamos Ensemble, Tatsuya Nakatani, entre muchos otros, among many others. His work has been presented around the world and his recordings have been released on Amirani Records, Albany Records, Edgetone Records, and Relative Pitch.
