SONIC ESSENCE - paysages façonnés

„sonic essence“ ist ein Projekt des Komponisten und Improvisators Florian Bergmann, in dem er sich seit 2011 mit dem klanglichen Wesen alltäglicher Gegenstände beschäftigt, die er sich in Form von Computersamples musikalisch verfügbar macht. Zusammen mit der französischen Künstlerin Elma Riza präsentiert er nun die intermediale Arbeit „paysages façonnés“, eine Komposition für Fotoprojektionen und Audiozuspielungen. 

Die Oberflächen alltäglicher und wohlbekannter Objekte werden auf künstlerischem Wege abstrahiert und aus ihnen audiovisuelle Landschaften geformt. Es entstehen neue, ungewohnte Perspektiven, die uns dazu anregen, unsere eigene Wahrnehmung und unsere Gewohnheiten zu hinterfragen und neu zu interpretieren.

"What do Neil Young, Malcolm Young and Lester Young have in common? They all were huge fans of and heavily influenced by The Still.

Originally formed in 1964 in the deserts of Zuni Pueblo, New Mexico, The Still's revolutionary minimalist style of reducing music to it's purest until left with raw, palpable emotion brought them adoration far beyond cult status among the band's fans and peers and led to pianist Glenn Gould's famous and often repeated quote: "The Still is the essence of music".

It is believed that the release of the The Still's first album led to a substantial growth in world population.

In the last four decades the band was the inspiration of other musical milestones such as Whitesnake's "In The Still Of The Night", the Scorpions' "Still loving You" as well as John Cage's "4'33".
