Aaron With is a sound and video artist from Chicago and living in Mexico City. His bespoke sample instruments are hybrid designs featuring rare and historical instruments, richly tuned in just and microtonal intonations, and layered with nature sounds from foley and field recordings. With improvises evolving patterns on his instruments via intricate finger percussion. Cloaked in synthetic processing, With’s vocals repeat phrases in a kind of prismatic chant—he slowly phases their word orders revealing hidden connotations. His mantras explore the hyper-logical positivism mythologies of contemporary managerial class dogma.
