Paulina Sofie Kiss
Paulina Sofie Kiss is a musician and composer specializing in experimental and electronic music.
After studying classical music with Johannes Lüthy at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe, she turned to contemporary music. Influences by her collaboration with Marie-Bernadette Charrier during her Erasmus in Bordeaux, she increasingly turned to contemporarry music and later studied electroacoustic composition with Robin Minard and Maximilian Marcoll at the SeaM of the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar.
She has composed and performed for the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Beethovenfest Bonn and the Podium Esslingen. She also received a scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.
Playing with listeners' expectations and questioning music in its context is an elementary part of her work. In the tension between the genre boundaries of electronic and improvised music, jazz, new music and sound art, her work is based on a critical examination of social and cultural-political issues.
She is co-founder and co-managing director of the Detect Classic Festivals. In addition, she is also the musical director of the Detect Ensemble.
