Augustė Vickunaitė is a sound archaeologist who develops her sonic narratives using tapes and prehistoric tape recorders. Layer upon layer, she assembles found objects, field recordings, and recordings of voices, instruments, and objects into fascinating collages. She always adheres to a rigorous, cinematic dramaturgy. Her sound is characterized by the noises of the aging mechanics of her tape recorders, which take on a life of their own within her multifaceted soundscape.
London-based producer, saxophonist, keyboardist, and lyricist Lara Jones is known for her complex, high-energy live sets. She masterfully weaves synthesizer arpeggios, sub-bass, abstract beats, and jazz harmonies into a unique club sound. Lara Jones has consistently defied artistic categorization, repeatedly exploring new and surprising styles. As a queer artist, Lara uses her work to convey queer perspectives and experiences, and to initiate dialogue about gender stereotypes and queer identity.
The music of the Spanish duo ZA! is radical, humorous, and captivating all at once. Every concert by these two DIY activists is a firework display of ideas, plot twists, and joyful anarchy. In a highly entertaining way, ZA! extract essences from the bottomless wellspring of virtually every pop music style ever recorded, right before the eyes and ears of their audience. They shake this cocktail and then ignite it, with tremendous enthusiasm and a penchant for odd time signatures, breaks, and unpredictability.
